Weird and wonderful
I'm not usually a fan of handle-less cups, on the grounds that I don't like burnt fingertips, but since this gold, cushion-saucer version is for espresso (all the heat is at the bottom), I'll make an exception. It was launched at 100% Design by the New York/Poland-based company Modus Design.
New kids on the block
Fusing a cheap existing product (orange plastic plumbing-pipe caps in this case) with a more expensive material (white porcelain) is a hard look to pull off, but Modus Design's Cap Vases make it look easy, and worth the effort.

Modus Design's Cecula used corundum- an advanced ceramic material with the makup of rubies and sapphires- for this pitcher and two-cup set. The pieces were fired at higher temperatures than porcelain, which the designer says makes them durable yet translucent.
