about modus design Ceramics created by Modus Design set the stage for the personal relationship between man and object, while providing innovative forms to accompany the ritual of utility. Modus Design evolved from a small individual ceramic studio, which began operation in New York City almost 30 years ago. Created by Marek Cecula, noted ceramic artist, designer & educator. Modus Design specializes in innovative ceramic design aligning processes which integrate craft and the industry. In 2001 Modus Design established a new base for their European operation in Poland, enabling general distribution and production in local industries. Modus Design offers an alternative viewpoint on domestic products, focusing on the landscape of the table, and reinventing the conventional in contemporary ceramics. Modus Design offers two lines of ceramic products. The first line is mass produced and comes from carefully chosen manufacturers. The specifically adapted designs provide the base for a variety of works which represent the integrity of design with a personal touch. The second line is produced in our studios in New York and Poland. This group carries special characteristics of limited edition pieces. All designs are created in high-fired porcelain representing a new approach to this noble and traditional material. Today Modus continues to explore ceramic medium through engagement with progressive technologies and advanced new materials never before used in products for the home. |
